Erik:

Today we went into our first real african village. The workers on the vineyards come here for harvest season from the north. So it is a northern style village in the south.

We also found out that right across the Orange river there is a diamond mine that was (still is) (allegedly)owned by the Bin Laden family. Creepy.
In the morning, Steph and I kanoed on the Orange River. Steph wanted to cross to the other side (South Africa) illegally but I said no. Antonie took us on a 4x4 track through the desert. The landscapes were humbling. The mountains shimmer because of the shale rock they are made of. There were also some great rock climbing places as well.

Where are the sand people?

I wish I could upload more pics, but internet is very slow here.
Anyway, a bit later on we saw wild horses, loads of springbock and clipsprings.
It was an amazing bit of the Namib desert, oldest in the world.
